Pottery

Pottery is a tricky tradeskill – it’s the only one that requires two steps for a completed item.  First you use your clay and other ingredients (in a pottery wheel) to make an unfired item and then you use a firing sheet to complete them (in a kiln).  Luckily there are only 3 firing sheets that are commonly available and are cheap plus firing most items has a very low trivial (17).  For skilling up purposes, I would say don’t fire the items – mainly to save money.  Do your combines and then sell or destroy the unfired items (unless otherwise said).

Pottery is a great tradeskill to start off early because you can make many items that are used in other tradeskills mainly baking and poison making (I highly recommend Rogues to work on pottery early on).

  • Ceramic Lining – trivial at 36
    • Ceramic Lining Sketch + small block of clay + water flask
    • I would recommend firing these (use a “quality firing sheet).  They stack well and are used in smithing – either save them for smithing or sell them in the Bazaar.
    • You can also save them for casserole dishes (later)
  • Alternate (cheaper) – Medium Clay Jar – trivial at 36
    • Good if you do not care about ceramic linings – they will be a little cheaper
    • Block of clay + medium jar sketch + water flask
  • Popular Item: Cake Round – trivial at 115
    • Cake round sketch + block of clay + water flask + glass shard
    • In a kiln combine the unfired product with a high quality firing sheet
    • These do not stack so you’ll need plenty of room or don’t make many of them
    • Used in baking (keep one for yourself if you’re not at misty picnics yet)
  • Popular item:  Pie Tin – trivial at 115
    • 2 blocks of clay + pie tin sketch + water flask
    • Combine in a kiln with a high quality firing sheet
    • Stacks to 20
    • Used in baking
  • Medium Bowl – trivial at 122
    • Block of clay + medium bowl sketch + water flask
  • Large Bowl – trivial at 148
    • Water flask + large block of clay + glass shard + large bowl sketch
  • Lined Poison Vial – trivial at 168
    • Lined vial sketch + small block of clay + water flask + Crowns special brew
    • Crowns Special Brew is easiest to get in Abysmal Sea at Malkidiv U’Ycionuz and Hiloan O’Yviana as well as Crescent Reach by Potter Subria
    • You can replace the brew with many LQ, MQ, and HQ animal pelts but I wouldn’t recommend it – those are better of for tailoring
    • Combine with a high quality firing sheet in a kiln
    • Stacks to 20
    • Used in poison making
  • Sealed Poison Vial – trivial at 188
    • Sealed vial sketch + small block of clay + water flask + Crowns special brew
    • Crowns Special Brew is easiest to get in Abysmal Sea at Malkidiv U’Ycionuz and Hiloan O’Yviana as well as Crescent Reach by Potter Subria
    • You can replace the brew with many LQ, MQ, and HQ animal pelts but I wouldn’t recommend it – those are better of for tailoring
    • Combine with a high quality firing sheet in a kiln
    • Stacks to 20
    • Used in poison making
  • Advanced Poison Vial – trivial at 196
    • Make purified water
      • 2 water flask + celestial essence in a brew barrel – trivial at 58
    • Get large blocks of magic clay
      • large blocks of clay enchanted by an enchanter
    • Advanced vial sketch + Crowns special brew + large block of magic clay + purified water
    • Yields 2
    • Combine with a high quality firing sheet in a kiln
    • Finished product stacks to 20
    • Used in high level poisons (Rogues)
  • Planar Stein – trivial at 216
    • Water flask + ceramic lining sketch + sculpting tools (returned on success and failure) + block of tanaan clay + tainted planar essence
    • Only go up to 209 – these can be expensive
  • Obsidian Scale Skean Ornament – trivial at 308
    • Make dream infused clay
      • Water flask + large block of magic clay + dream dust (foraged in House of Thule or buy in the bazaar)
    • Hematite + Obsidian Skean Ornament Sketch + dream infused clay
    • You can fire these with a high quality firing sheet for an item that will change the graphic of a 1-HS weapon.  They do sell in the bazaar but slowly.  The unfired versions stack to 100 so if you plan to sell them, keep a stack of unfired and only have 1-3 fired version on hand at a time.

There are many other popular items that you may be able to sell in the bazaar for a high markup.  No, you won’t become a millionaire quickly but it can help you with a slow, but steady, supply of platinum.

  • Semi-popular items:
    •  Skewers – trivial at 21
      • Block of clay + skewers sketch + unfired skewers
      • Combine in a kiln with a quality firing sheet
      • Stacks to 20
      • Used in baking
    • Pot – trivial at 56
      • Large block of clay + metal bits + pot sketch + water flask
      • Combine in a kiln with a high quality firing sheet
      • Used in baking
    • Muffin Tin – trivial at 122
      • Block of clay + metal bits + muffin tin sketch + water flask
      • Combine with a high quality firing sheet
      • Stacks to 20
      • Used in baking
    • Mixing Bowl – trivial at 128
      • 2 large blocks of clay + large bowl sketch + water flask
      • Combine with a firing sheet in a kiln
      • Used to make many baking items
      • Also vendor sold for 1 silver so it may not be worth selling in the bazaar

There are many other items used in skills (mostly baking) that have trivial rates under 200.  While I am not saying go crazy with them it may not be a bad idea to have some on hand for your own fun or sell them in the bazaar.
